The Valley Of The Squinting Windows

THE VALLEY OF THE SQUINTING WINDOWS
a new play by Michael Scott
based on the book by Brinsely McNamara
Created and performed at

and
at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin & Mullingar Centre for the Performing Arts (2023)

It took a very long process to develop the production, a workshop almost 8 years before and after many detours, and diversions we finally went into rehearsals. The production would never had happened without the continued support ,determination, understanding and belief in the project of Sean Lynch the Director Of Mullingar Centre for the Performing Arts.

A series of workshops  for eight weeks and rehearsals with the local cast members and then for three weeks the professional cast joined them. The local cast member were amazing and gave their time , energy and commitment freely for the project, they were selected by open audition and many local regulars proved the be as talented as members of the professional cast.

A large video wall with live relay from a  roving camera, and three other fixed cameras brought the story to extra life - a stepped down stage with the cast constantly watching everyone and everything  all the time.

Everyone watching  everyone watching everyone...

Video became its own language in the production an extra "text" beyond words. The roving camera showing  elements  and details of the production that the audience could not actually see directly, which were relayed live to the giant video wall developing a deeper understanding of the events taking place.
